On a bitterly cold Friday evening and with rain forecast, it was a very keen Wythenshawe Wizards team, who were ready and waiting to play their 2nd match of the season, this time away at Bramhall CC.
Batting first, it was evident from the off that all the hard work over the winter & now at our outdoor training, is really starting to pay off.
Openers Ben Toland and Liam McCoy (Capt) collectively scoring 36 runs as the first pair, Ben with 22 runs, which included a big 6!!
Ben Dibben & Owen Williamson continued to add runs to the accumulating total, with the loss of only one wicket between them.
Final pairing of Alfie Lockwood & Alex Forrest, set about adding another 45 runs, 36 coming from the bat of Alfie, hitting 9 fours from 15 balls faced, Wythenshawe Wizards finishing their innings on 102 for the loss of 3 wickets.
Bramhall also with a very young side, set out confidently and with 12 runs coming from Zach & 11 from Bethany, they really gave a good account of themselves.
Tonight though the total was just too much for the Bramhall youngsters and they fell short of the target by 53 runs.
Another spellbinding performance from our youngest Wythenshawe players, well done everyone, just a pity the Wizards couldn't magic up a flask of hot coffee for the parents and shivering scorer...!!
Oh well maybe next time ;)
