Well done Coach Rob Jones & his U13s winning SMJCL Division 3 in a great match away at Cheadle, who having won the toss, elected to bowl. After a shaky start Wythenshawe soon got into a rhythm, with Heetain Arora settling into his inimitable style, playing some lovely shots, finally retiring not out on 32 runs, partnered for a good while by Oliver Roddy, also striking the ball well & keeping the runs ticking over with some quick exchanges between the wickets, scoring 20 runs.
Wythenshawe ending their innings with a very creditable 132/9.
Cheadle set off quickly after the break, hitting some nice shots, until Wythenshawe’s bowlers began to take back control, Heetain, Tom Curtis & Jake Charlton all taking 2 wickets each, Oliver Roddy, Ollie Kirk & James Gutteridge 1 each, amazing catches from Capt Sonny Ash, Dan Sullivan & Jake.
Wythenshawe very vocal & supportive of each other in the field which was really great to see & HEAR (at last!)
Cheadle’s highest scorer, retiring 33 not out Kris.
Wythenshawe finally taking Cheadle’s last wicket in the 19th over, as they finished on 102, Wythenshawe winning by 30 runs & in doing so sealing their position at the top of the table for Division 3 2024.
Thank you to Cheadle for their hospitality and to all parents for their continued support.
Special mention to Mum’s Kelly & Jess, who persevered scoring the old fashioned way in the book as the app was down!
